Obituary for John Nelson Martin
John Nelson Martin, 68, of Clearfield, passed away Thursday May 22, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born June 1, 1945 in Martinsville, IN, he was the son of James and Hester (Brown) Martin. He was a U S Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from the Military in 1983 after 20 years of military service. After his military service he had worked for Anderson Equipment Co. and had been a truck driver. He was a lifetime member of the National VFW and also a member of the Clearfield Antique Automobile Club
On August 15, 1975 in North Pole Alaska he wed the former Wava “Sue” Norris who survives along with his mother of Martinsville, IN and 3 sons. Brian Martin and wife Tracy, Jeff Martin and wife Kit and Wade Martin and wife Tracy all of Martinsville, IN, 8 grandchildren, 3 sisters and a brother. Nancy Reburn and husband Chuck of Linton, IN, Nina Bullard and husband John and Cathy Miller and husband Randy both of Martinsville, IN, and Jerry Martin and wife Sheryl of Brewton, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister Rose Martin
At the request of Mr. Martin there will be no public visitation and Memorial Services will be held at a later date in his hometown of Martinsville, IN. Interment will be either in the Arlington National Cemetery or the Indiantown Gap Military Reserve National Cemetery in Annville, PA. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society 26 S Second St. Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Clearfield County S.P.C.A. 275 21st Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
