Joseph W. “Joe” Freeman


Erhard: Joseph W. “Joe” Freeman, 84, of Erhard passed away Thursday February 27, 2025.


Born October 8, 1940, in Clearfield County he was the son of Lewis and Anna (Conrad) Freeman. He graduated from Clearfield Area High School. Joe had worked as a Boilermaker for 40 years. He retired from Boilermakers Local Union 154 in Pittsburgh. He was a member of the United States Navy Reserve.


Joe was a member of the Oak Ridge Union Church where he was very active. He served the church as an adult Sunday school teacher, Deacon and Superintendent.


On February 15, 1959 in Bloomington, PA he wed Jessie L. (Rowley) Freeman who survives of Erhard along with four children Joseph J. “Joe” Freeman (Janet) of Glen Richey, Patricia M. “Patty” Lockett (Kevin), T. Lewis Freeman (Cindy) all of Erhard, and Ruth Ann Coder (Kenneth II) of Clearfield. Daughter in law Crystal Freeman, ten grandchildren Joseph J. Freeman Jr. (Skylar). Jennifer Clark (Mark), Heidi Lockett, Joshua Lockett, Ashlee Norris (Trent), Rachel Freeman significant other (Tanner Antonuk), Christopher Luzier (Meghan), Kennedi Boal (Michael), Casey Freeman (Shae), Allison Freeman significant other (Chase). Fourteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son Jeffrey L. Freeman.


Funeral services will be held at the Oak Ridge Union Church on Tuesday March 4, 2025 at 4:30 PM with Pastor Michael Knepp officiating. Interment will be held in the Fruit Hill Cemetery.


Family and Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 2 PM until the time of services at 4:30.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Oak Ridge Union Church.
