Karen Elizabeth (Srock) Baughman
Karen Elizabeth (Srock) Baughman, 75, of West Decatur, entered into the presence of her Lord, at UPMC Shadyside on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 after battling health challenges for the last three years. Mrs. Baughman, the only child of Herman R. & Lois Mae (Leighlitner) Srock, was born on April 28, 1950, in Philipsburg, PA. Mrs. Baughman was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth G. Baughman, whom she wed on November 25, 1977 in Philipsburg. Also surviving are her two daughters, Kristen Gray and her husband, Edward, of Curwensville and their sons, Carson and Wyatt; Karey Dean and her husband, Lyle, of Plant City, FL. and their son, Asher.
Karen was a 1968 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola High School. She worked as a secretary at the Department of Transportation Dist 2-0 and Clearfield-Jefferson Mental Health Center in Clearfield. Karen then was a stay-at-home mother and later the caregiver of her parents. She retired from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office, after 15 years as a secretary, just several months after she was blessed with twin grandsons.
For many years, Karen was a member of the Gearhartville Free Methodist Church (now G-Free church), where she served as Sunday school secretary, as a song leader, and was involved in children ministries. For the last 25 years, Karen attended the Hyde Wesleyan Church. She enjoyed singing in church choirs and ministering to residents of nursing homes. She has always loved to sing; first singing with her parents when she was quite young. In the 1970’s, Karen sang in a gospel trio, known as the Belles of Joy. One of her favorite songs went like this: “Someday this stammering tongue will falter no more, and a grander, sweeter song I shall sing; For I’ll join the ransomed choir on Heaven’s bright shore, Forever to praise the King.” For those who knew Karen well, they were most likely a recipient of greeting cards sent by her. She faithfully encouraged family and friends through cards and prayers.
Karen loved spending time with her family and friends, but nothing meant more to her than loving on and being “Nana” to her precious grandsons.
Throughout her illness, she was cared for by many exceptional healthcare workers on the Cardiothoracic team at UPMC Shadyside who became like family.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home in Curwensville, PA on Wednesday, February 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, 2/26, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Hyde Wesleyan Church with a Celebration of Life service to follow at noon with Rev. Robert Croft and Rev. Stevan Sheets co-officiating.
The family suggests donations are made to the Hyde Wesleyan Church (Missions fund) at 1215 Riverview Rd., Clearfield, PA 16830.
