Obituary for Kathryn Jane McMasters
Kathryn Jane McMasters, 87, of Curwensville, passed away Thursday December 29, 2011 at her residence.
Born October 2, 1924 at Chestnut Ridge, Pike Township, she was the daughter of Frank and Grace Viola (Shugarts) McMasters. Miss McMasters had worked for Airplane Marine in Hyde, the Hosiery Mill in Curwensville, and retired from Kents Sportswear in Curwensville.
She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118C in Curwensville.
Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews including Margaret Wingard and Blair Wink and his wife Kay both of Curwensville and Charles Wink of Florida, as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her lifelong companion Percy Hooven, 3 brothers Clair “Mac”, Vorice “Doe” and John McMaster and 2 sisters Ruth Shugarts Doolen and Irene Wink. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral Services for Miss McMasters will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday January 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Dr. Robert Ludrowsky officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday January 2, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and again on Tuesday from 10 AM until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville United Methodist Church 602 State St. Curwensville, PA 16833 or the Curwensville Public Library 601 Beech St. Curwensville, PA 16833.
