Obituary for Kenneth Robert Okerlund
Kenneth Robert Okerlund, 80, of Clearfield, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away Saturday March 26, 2022 at his residence.
Born March 5, 1942 in Kane, McKean County, PA, he was the son of Lawrence L. and Marjorie (Gallup) Okerlund. He was a 1960 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and in 1964, he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Penn State University in State College, PA.
Mr. Okerlund served as a Commissioned Officer in the U. S. Army and was stationed in Germany in the Air Defense Artillery during the Vietnam War.
From 1994 until his retirement, he was employed by the Clearfield County Assessment Office as a Field Assessor. From 1971 thru 1993 Mr. Okerlund was partners with the late James A. Brown in the 19th American Service Center which operated the Amoco Station at Exit 120 (19) of I-80 and also a trucking business.
From 1966 thru 1970, he was employed by the Corning Glass Works at the State College Plant where he was the Production Supervisor, and later was Supervisor of Accounting.
Surviving is a sister Susan O. Thorp and husband Kenneth of Grampian, a brother-in-law Anthony Kaczka of Dover, DE, and godson James K. Brown of Treasure Lake. Also surviving is a nephew Tracy Thorp and wife Vicki of Grampian, a niece Pamela Tarapchak of Douglasville, three great nieces Dana, Nova, and Ava, and a great nephew Harrison all of Douglasville.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Mary Lynn Kaczka.
Funeral Services for Kenneth Okerlund will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday April 1, 2022 at 4:00 PM, the Mrs. Carole Michaels officiating. Interment will be in the Styers Cemetery LLC in Hyde, PA
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 PM until time of services at 4:00 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society * 108 Rear N Second Street * Clearfield, PA 16830 of the charity of the donor’s choice.
