Obituary for Kirk Spencer Thorp
Kirk Spencer Thorp, 95, of Hepburnia, passed away early Wednesday morning August 8, 2012 at his residence.
 
Born May 26, 1917 in Grampian he was the son of Russell Kirk and Blanche Marie (Spencer) Thorp.  He was a Lifetime Farmer and owned and operated Grampian Hills Dairy Farm in Grampian.  He also drove school bus, and retired from McDonald Coal Company.  He was a 50 year member of The Penn Grange, a member of Deer Run Rod & Gun Club, and a member of the American Bowling Congress.   He was a member of the West Branch Friends Meeting of Grampian.
 
He was avid Hunter, Fisherman, Bowler, Baseball Player, Heavy Equipment Operator, and Farmer.
 
On January 17, 1940 in Clearfield he wed Edith L. Turner who preceded him in death on March 11, 1998.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, twin sons Robert Duane and Edward Darrell Thorp, great granddaughter Lee Ann Wriglesworth, sisters Nellie Kester and Beatrice Currier, and brothers Corliss and Kenneth Glenn Thorp. 
 
Surviving are 3 children Eileen Hoover and husband Larry of Morrisdale, and Kenneth L. Thorp and wife Susan and T. Kirk Thorp and wife Connie both of Grampian, and 7 grandchildren Vaughn Bachelier, Russell Wriglesworth, Ray Wriglesworth, Tracy Thorp, Pamela Tarapchak, Andrew Thorp and Arianne Thorp Greslick.
 
Also surviving are 13 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and 5 brothers and sisters.  William Thorp and wife Mary of Grampian, Jane Ogden of Middleport, NY, Mona Parsons and Patricia Anderson both of North Tonawanda, NY, and Richard Thorp of Mantua, OH.
 
Funeral Services for Mr. Thorp will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday August 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Mr. James Thorp officiating.  Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery Grampian.
 
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday August 9 from 5 to 8 PM, and again on Friday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM.
 
In Lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to either The Clearfield Foundation for Health – Hospice of Clearfield or the West Branch Friends Meeting in Grampian.
