Obituary for Lavone (Dot) Rowles
Lavone D. “Dot” Rowles, 81, of Smithmill, and formerly of Clearfield, passed away Wednesday May 29, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center, Altoona Hospital Campus.
Born December 15, 1931 in Clearfield she was the daughter of Warren J. and Lena M. (Hoover) Hoover. She had previously worked for the United States Pentagon as a secretary and also was a waitress at the former Clearfield Diner for numerous years. She was Methodist by faith and was a member of N.O.N. and Clearfield American Legion Auxiliary.
On January 30, 1952 in Washington DC she wed Marvin Lee Rowles Sr. who preceded her in death on April 15, 1989.
She is survived by 5 children Gregory Lee Rowles and his wife Deirdre of Frenchville, Valerie Lee Kestler of Tulsa OK., Marvin Lee Rowles Jr. of Clearfield, Michael Lee Rowles of Tulsa OK., and Mark Lee Rowles of Smithmill, PA. 3 grandchildren Marvin L. “TJ” Rowles III, John Kestler, and Natalie R. Rowles, and 1 great grand daughter Tigerlily Lakis. Also surviving is a sister LaRue Vallimont and her husband Joseph of Clearfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son Clifford Lee Rowles, 2 sisters Losetta Graffius and Lucile Bowman, and a brother John J. Hoover.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Lavone Rowles will be held at The Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Monday June 3, 2013 at 11 AM with her nephew, Reverend Timothy Hoover officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday June 2, 2013 from 4-7 PM and on Monday from 10 AM till the time of services at 11 AM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield SPCA 275 21st Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
