Obituary for LeRoy Fye
LeRoy Fye, 71, of Curwensville, passed away Thursday February 6, 2014 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
 
Born August 6, 1942 in Henderson Twp. He was the son of Glenn and Olive (Sylvis) Fye.   He had worked for the Former DuPont, BERG, and F.C.I. Electronics as a Tool and Die Maker and also Engineer at various locations for over 35 years. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville and a former member of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Sykesville. He had served in the Army Reserves.
 
He was a life member of Sykesville V.F.D, founding member of the ambulance service in Sykesville, a current member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Company in Curwensville where he had held various offices. He helped chair the antique car show at Curwensville Days, was a member of  Knights of Columbus,  Former member of the Sykesville Lions Club and chaired the annual pancake fry, former member of the Sykesville Boro Council, He was an avid supporter of Curwensville Football Program where he coached and painted the lines for over 20 yrs., Avid Steelers, Pirates, Penn State fan, Helped and Rode with the Last Raft,  Founder and coach of midget football in Sykesville where he won championships in 1976 & 1977.  Also coached little league baseball in Sykesville.  He was an avid fisherman and golfer and a former member of Eagles Ridge Golf Club.
 
On May 17, 1980 in Delaware he wed Cindy Caldwell who survives along with 4 children, LeRoy R. “Chip” Fye Jr. and his wife Beth and Lynn Fye, both of Virginia, Jackie Holland and her husband Lee of New York, Shawn Fye and his wife Rose of Curwensville.  Step-Daughter Tracey Moore and her husband Drew of Grampian,  3 grandsons Christopher Fye, Kamden Fye, and Nicholas Brewer, 3 step Granddaughters Heather Hepfer, Kylei Moore and Cheyenne Moore, 3 step Great Grandchildren and father In law Fred Cline.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
 
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Monday February 10, 2014 at 10 AM with Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde, PA 
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Sunday from 3-8 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM.  The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 2:45 PM, a Scripture Vigil service will be conducted at 7 PM and a Fireman’s  Memorial Services will be at conducted at 7:45 PM, all on Sunday.
 
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church, The Rescue Hose and Ladder Company Station 8 Curwensville, or the Bob Perks Memorial Fund care of Nathaniel D. Yingling Cancer Center.
