Obituary for Leona Pearl Wiggins
Leona Pearl Wiggins, 89, a resident of Knickerbocker Villa in Clearfield, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away Sunday February 13, 2022 at Penn Highlands Hospital – DuBois.
Born March 6, 1932 in North Mahoning Township, Indiana County, she was the daughter of Meade and Olive (Elkin) Hazlett. Mrs. Wiggins was a homemaker, had done babysitting, cleaned houses, and was retired from Bonnie’s Pet Grooming in Hyde. She was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church.
On November 21, 1948 in New Mine, PA, she wed James P. Wiggins who preceded her in death on June 3, 2021. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister Vernie Stitler. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are eight children: Carol Round and her late husband James, Bonnie Sabol and husband Alex, and Patricia Lanich, all of Curwensville; Dennis Wiggins and Brenda Wiggins both of Ocala, FL; Debbie Montgomery of Chambersburg; Timothy Wiggins of Mahaffey; and Roger Wiggins and wife Jamie of Wallaceton.
Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Leona Wiggins will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Thursday February 17, 2022 at 4:00 PM, with Pastor Gary B. Jewart officiating.
Family and Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 4:00 PM.
