Clearfield: Luther Deuwain Rickard Jr., 79 of Clearfield and formerly of Olanta passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
 
Born March 3, 1935 in Glasgow, he was the son of Luther Deuwain and Mary Catherine (Helsel) Rickard Sr. He attended the Curwensville Schools. He worked for the former Target/Bayer Clothing Company for 43 years until his retirement. He served as plant manager for numerous years. Many of the employees who worked for him considered him family.
 
He served as a deputy Waterways Patrolman for the Pennsylvania Fish Commission for over 35 years and worked closely with the Pennsylvania Game Commission as well. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. He traveled to various states to hunt and fish in different environments.
 
He was a long time member of the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, the North American Fishing Club, National Rifle Association and was an award winning Bass Fisherman.
 
On December 12, 1952 in Clearfield he wed Joy Ann Winters who preceded him in death on September 18, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister Charlotte Rickard.
 
Surviving are 7 children, Terry Lee Rickard, L. Deuwain Richard III and his wife Debbie both of Curwensville, Charlotte Irvine and her husband Lynn of York, PA, Cathy Howe of Curwensville, Julie Rickard of Clearfield, Debbie Mull and her husband Mike of Osceola Mills, and  James Rickard and his wife Sherry of  Hyde. 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. 2 brothers John A. Rickard of Olanta, and Raymond Rickard and his wife Diane of VA, and a sister Donna M. Bennett and her husband Raymond of Luthersburg.
 
Funeral Services for Mr. Rickard will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Wednesday October 22, 2014 at 11:00AM with Pastor Ernest E. Simmers officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery Turkey Hill, Olanta.
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday October 21, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM till the time of services at 11 AM.
 
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross, 2025 E. Street, NW Washington, DC 20006
