Obituary for Marie Mae Hanes
Marie Mae (Watson) Hanes 84, from Grampian passed away Thursday December 23rd at Desoto Baptist Memorial Hospital, Southaven, Ms.
Mrs. Hanes was born on May 4, 1937, in Sabinsville, PA. She was the daughter of Albert Reed Watson and Olive May (Kent) Watson. She attended school in Genesee, PA and married her late husband, Floyd Edwin Hanes on December 2, 1955. They moved to Curwensville where her late husband passed from cancer in 2012.
She was employed with Clearfield Cheese Co., Kent Sportswear, and Rumming’s Dry Cleaners all in Curwensville. She also attending Church of Brethren in Greenville, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd E. Hanes, a daughter, Cheryl D. Hanes of Concord, NC, both her parents, Albert R. Watson and Olive M. (Kent) Watson of Genesee, PA, her two brothers, Edward L. Watson and Albert H. Watson; her four sisters, Leona C. (Watson) Newman, Leatha G. (Watson) Mertsock, Katheline M. (Watson) Cherilla and Katherine M. (Watson) Raymer.
She is survived by her three loving children, Collen M. (Jim Spivey) Hanes of Concord, N.C., Dale R. (Susan) Hanes of Curwensville, and Holly O. (Jeff) Halford of Nesbit, MS; six grandchildren, Jessica Hanes Kyler, Christopher Hanes, Kirk Whitaker, Colleen Whitaker (Eric) Underwood, Ashley Halford (Cory) Sansom, Shane Halford; two step grandchildren, Josh (Jaci) Goss and Brian Goss; eight great grandchildren, Cody and Connor Kyler, Jaylene and Christopher Hanes, Brayln, Khloe and Isabella Whitaker, Jade and Salem Underwood, and Reagan and Weston Sansom; two step great-great-grandchild, Audrey and Oakley Goss; and one brother, Martin E. (Marlene) Watson of Coudersport, PA.
There will be no public visitation.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Hanes will be held at Bloomington Cemetery, Bloomington-Glen Richey Highway, Curwensville on Saturday April 30, 2022 at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Leslie Bloom, officiating. Interment will follow in the Bloomington Cemetery.
