Obituary for Mary Anita Shaffer
Mary Anita Shaffer, 91, of Curwensville, passed way Wednesday October 19, 2011 at Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville.

Born June 24, 1920 in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of Ben Sr. and Esther (Anderson) Spontarelli. She was retired from Kurtz Brothers in 1985 after 38 years of service. She was a 1938 graduate of Big Run High School and also was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church since 1942.

On August 26, 1958 in Winchester, VA, she wed Cleo Shaffer who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister Pauline Oxendine and 6 brothers Vincent, Richard, Francis, Lester, William, and Donald Spontarelli.

Surviving are 2 brothers Ben Spontarelli Jr. of Akron, OH, and James Spontarelli of New York State as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

At the request of Mrs. Shaffer, there will be no public visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family with Reverend Richard Berggren officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
