Mary Ann Franson
Harrisburg: Mary Ann Franson 72 of Camp Hill, and formerly of Clearfield passed away Wednesday October 11, 2023 at UPMC Harrisburg.
Born March 15, 1951 in Clearfield she was the daughter of Dean and Lois (Casher) Johnston. She was a 1969 of Clearfield Area High School Graduate and a 1973 graduate from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. She was Teacher for the Clearfield Area School District for 34 years, where she retired in June 2012.
After retirement she moved closer to her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
She was a life long member of the West Side United Methodist Church, where she was active on numerous committees and taught Sunday School. She was also a counselor at Camp Shawnee, a Troop Leader for Girl Scouts, and was active in her community.
On August 25, 1973 at she wed Charles A. Franson III at West Side Methodist Church. Charles, of Camp Hill, survives along with three children: Charles A Franson IV (Lindsey) of Mechanicsburg, Janel E. Justice (Brent) of Fairfax, VA, and Andrew D. Franson of Clearfield. 4 grandchildren Christopher and Reagan Justice of Fairfax, VA, and August and Ezra Franson of Mechanicsburg; and her brother Larry K. Johnston (Hollie) of Clearfield.
A public memorial service will be held at West Side United Methodist Church Clearfield on Friday October 27, 2023 at 3 PM with Pastor David McElwee officiating.
Family and Friends will be received at the Church on Friday October 27, 2023 from 1 PM till the time of Services at 3 PM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Side United Methodist Church-Memorial Gifts or Penn State Dubois-scholarships.
