Mary Ellen Guiher, 58, of Curwensville, passed away Sunday morning, October 23, 2022 at her residence.
Born July 3, 1964 in Greenville, Mercer County, PA, she was the daughter of James and Helen (McKeown) Gillen. Mary had worked as a security Guard, a seamstress at the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville, a cook/clerk at the Grampian One-Stop and a cook at the Smokehouse in Curwensville, as well as being a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her two girls and two grandchildren.
She was a member of the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City, and was a former member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., the Curwensville L.O.O.M. Lodge #268, and the Grampian-Penn-Bloom VFD.
On June 21, 1982 in Clearfield, she wed Franklin Lloyd “Frank” Guiher, who survives, along with two daughters: Heather Nicole Harris of Grampian and Crystal Dawn Guiher and Fiancée Justin Stevenson of Clearfield; and two grandchildren: James Allen Harris and Cynthia Rose Harris.
Also surviving are three sisters: Bertha Bloom of Curwensville, Virginia Guiher of Florida, and Sylvia Shilling and husband Matthew of Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother James Gillen, her maternal grandparents James and Elsie McKeown, and her paternal grandparents James and Bertha Gillen
Funeral Services for Mary Guiher will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Thursday October 27, 2022 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Scott Schultz officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery of Grampian.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until time of services at 1:00 PM.
