Mary Ellen Oswalt, 90, of Curwensville, passed away early Monday morning, July 7, 2014 at Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville.

Born April 11, 1924 in McCartney, PA, she was the daughter of James and Helen Margaret (Freeman) Hamilton. Mrs. Oswalt was a seamstress, having worked for MacGregor Sportswear and later retired from Kents Sportswear in Curwensville. She was Pentecostal by Faith.

She wed Clair W. Oswalt who preceded her in death on January 12, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers James Jr., John, George, and Clifford Hamilton, and 2 sisters Ella Hamilton and Lillian Cutting.

Surviving are 5 children: Patricia McCrary and husband Wilmont of Sebring, FL, James Oswalt and wife Carol of DuBois, Judy Johnston and husband Brian of Curwensville, and twins Lilly Fink and husband Harry of Curwensville and Larry Oswalt and wife Beverly of Clearfield.

Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren, and a sister Grace Lippert of Clearfield.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Oswalt will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday July 11, 2014 at 2: PM, with the Reverend Wilmont McCrary officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 2:00 PM.Â
