Obituary for Mary Louise Carfley
Mary Louise Carfley of Clearfield, and formerly of Philipsburg and Curwensville, passed away Wednesday September 19, 2012 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Born July 10, 1921 in Mississippi, she was the daughter of Christopher and Catherine (Rowles) Cullen. Mrs. Carfley was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Airplane/Marine in Hyde during World War II. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Philipsburg, and prior to that was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
On August 31, 1940 in Curwensville, she wed Francis J. “Feo” Carfley who survives along with 2 children. John R. Carfley and wife Ruth Ann of State College and Janice L. Goss and husband Thomas of Virginia. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, a brother and 3 sisters. Chris Cullen of Youngstown, OH, Anna Jean Winebold of Ohio, Margaret “Peggy” Hamilton of Curwensville, and Alice Wagner of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jack Cullen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church Walnut Street Curwensville on Monday September 24, 2012 at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Sunday September 23, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and again on Monday from 9 until 9:40 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy’s Altar and Rosary Society Sunday at 3:00 PM with the Scripture Vigil Services to be conducted at 7:30 PM Sunday, both at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association 501 Howard Avenue, Suite 101 Altoona, PA 16601.
