Obituary for Millie Joan Mayersky
Millie Joan Mayersky, 93, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday March 26, 2013 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.

Born August 17, 1919 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of James and Caroline (Donia) Quethera.  Millie first had worked for Jets Sportswear sewing flaps on Duffle Bags for US Service Men.  She then worked for Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville sewing zippers in jackets, and then in 1966 worked for the former Ames Department Store in the Customer Service Department.  During her employment with Ames, she helped open an additional 5 Ames Department Stores.
 
Millie was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville, where she was a member of and past President of the Altar and Rosary Society, and for a number of years was the funeral luncheon coordinator.  She also catered weddings, showers and parties, had delivered “Meals on Wheels” for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, and taught Wednesday morning Craft Classes at the Curwensville Civic Center (Curwensville Community Center) for 23 years.
 
She volunteered at the Mercy Mission in Clearfield, volunteered for the “Make A Difference Day” in Curwensville, was a member of the Hobby Garden Club of Clearfield where she was past president for many years and planted flowers at the entrance to Curwensville beside the railroad underpass as well as many other activities.  She also babysitted the 4 Sheeder children Linzy, Ariann, Cruise, and Brian.
 
On June 8, 1940 at St. Francis Church in Clearfield, she wed Henry S. Mayersky who preceded her in death on October 7, 1993.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, 6 sisters Jenny Minute, Frances “Buckles” Ettaro, Mary Pelgrin, Anna Errigo, Caroline Sutherland, and Jeanie Snyder, and 7 brothers Frank, Anthony “Al”, James Jr., Sanford, Carmen, Joseph, and Samuel Quethera.
 
Surviving are 3 children: Joan Kendall and husband William of Pawleys Island, SC, a grandaughter Michelle Kendall Kunisky and husband Paul of Camp Hill, and a great grandson Alexander Kunisky, a grandson Scott Kendall and wife Tonya of Mechanicsburg, PA, and two great grandchildren Teyona and Michael Kendall; a daughter Judith Selfridge and husband Theodore of Burlington, VT, a grandson Ritch Selfridge and wife Tami of Bainbridge, NY, and great grandchildren Skyler, Allison, Ben, Abigail, and Erica, a granddaughter Valerie Wennar and husband Todd of Milton, VT and 2 great granddaughters Addison and Emma; and a son John H. Mayersky and wife Sara of Clearfield, a grandson Michael Mayersky and wife Shannon of Woodland and a great grandson Dominic Mayersky, and a grandson David Mayersky of Clearfield.
 
Also surviving is a brother Louis Quethera of Geneva, NY, and her “Adopted grandson” Mark Ishler.   
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Saturday April 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park of Hyde, PA
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday April 5 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Saturday from 9 until 9:40 AM when the procession will depart for the church.
 
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society Friday afternoon at 3 PM, and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted Friday evening at 7:45 PM, both at the funeral home.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society or St. Timothy Church Memorial Fund both at 306 Walnut Street Curwensville, PA 16833 or the St. Francis School Endowment Fund 212 S. Front St. Clearfield, PA 16830.
