Morton K. “Mort” Johns
DuBois: Morton K. “Mort” Johns, 88, of Mahaffey passed away Saturday April 25, 2026 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born May 17, 1937 in Bells Landing he was the son of David E. and Edna D. (Spackman) Johns. He was a 1955 Curwensville Area High School graduate. He was a member of Curwensville Alliance Church in Curwensville. He was a printer by trade working for 30 plus years at Robison Printing Company in Curwensville. He had also worked at Clearfield Cheese Company.
He served his country serving in the United States Naval Reserves.
He served as supervisor and secretary for Greenwood Township for 50 plus years. He was a member of the Grampian Lions Club, and the former Curwensville Jaycees.
He loved his family. He was a Little League coach, loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. And was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He also enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren activities and sporting events.
On April 16, 1960 in Curwensville, PA he wed Shirley (Schnarrs) Johns who survives along with two children: Denny K. Johns and his wife Pam of Curwensville, PA and Lori A. Godissart and her partner Tim Kinch of Emerald Isle, NC. Five grandchildren Tyler Johns of Curwensville, PA, Kyle “Bug” Johns and his wife Emily of Falls Creek, PA, Nathan Godisssart and his partner Samantha Smith of Three Springs, PA, Brent Godissart and his wife Becca of NC, and Lauren Shuma and her husband Aaron of Bellefonte, PA, and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph Johns, and a sister Linda Condon.
Funeral services for Mr. Johns will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Friday May 1, 2026 at 11 AM with Pastor Steven Shields officiating. Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Thursday April 30, 2026 from 5-7 PM. And on Friday from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM.
