Obituary for Nathan James McClellan
Nathan James McClellan Sr., 73, of Spring Valley, West Decatur RD, left his earthly home surrounded by his family to join his heavenly father Wednesday March 31, 2010 at his residence.

Born June 29, 1936 in Philipsburg he was the son of Gurnee and Elsie (Yingling) McClellan.  He was employed as a Truck Driver by trade until his retirement in 2008.  He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of the Wallaceton United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aries 812 Clearfield, John Lewis Shade Post 6 American Legion of Clearfield, and a past member of the Clearfield Honor Guard.

He enjoyed racing and spending time with his grandchildren.

On May 13, 1963 in Virginia he wed the former Vivian Butler who survives along with 6 children; Nathan J. McClellan Jr. of Clearfield, Patrick N. McClellan and his wife Susan of Jonesboro, GA, Rebecca Shaffer and her husband Kelly of Ansonville, Margaret “Meg” Passmore and her husband Richard of Clearfield, Laura Quigley and her husband Eric of Curwensville, and Frances McClellan and her fiancée Chris Pollack of Huntingdon.

Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren Nathan, Ashley, and Bethany McClellan, Lindsay Wholaver, Jessica and Patrick McClellan, Melissa Stansell, Ryan and Kristen Shaffer and Rachel, Amanda, Gretchen, Nolan, and Richard Passmore, 4 great grandchildren, and 5 brothers and sisters.   Clarence Yingling of Harrisburg, Betty Bell and her husband Charles, Mary Snyder, Lena McClellan, and Fran Orwick all of Philipsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Brothers Andrew “Jack”, George and Glen McClellan and a sister Ellen Miller.

Services for Mr. McClellan will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Clearfield on Saturday April 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Pastor William R. Michael officiating. Interment will follow in the Bigler Cemetery.  Military Honors will be accorded at the Cemetery by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM till the time of services at 11:00 AM
