Obituary for Olive Pearl McKee
Olive Pearl McKee, 95, a resident of Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville and formerly of Marion Manor of Curwensville and of Curwensville, passed away Friday evening August 12, 2016 at Ridgeview.
Born December 1, 1920 in Knox Township, Clearfield County she was the daughter of John and Mae (Witherow) Snyder. Mrs. McKee was a homemaker and had also worked at the former Kent’s Sportswear in Curwensville.
She was a member of the Curwensville First Baptist Church, a former member of the Curwensville VFW Auxiliary and Clearfield County Home Extension. She loved to paint, volunteer and work in her garden, and she stayed active with bowling, fishing and enjoyed watching basketball. The world was a better place for having had Ollie McKee for 95 years.
On December 27, 1941 in Clearfield she wed Eldon E. “Fibber” McKee who preceded her in death on September 13, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Bonnie McKee, a granddaughter Holly (McKee) Queen, five sisters Ruth, Mabel, Amanda, Marie and Elva and four brothers Pearcy, James, Merl and Paul. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are five children: Shannon McKee and wife Karen of Clearfield, John McKee and wife Shirley of Olanta, Sandy Evans and husband Thomas of Ossining, NY, Vivian Searcy and husband Durham of Interlachen, FL, and Judy Johnson and husband John of Chesterton, IN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services for Mrs. McKee will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday August 16, 2016 at 12:00 Noon with the Reverend Daniel Osterhout officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday August 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Tuesday from 11 AM until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville First Baptist Church 1227 Susquehanna Avenue Curwensville, PA 16833 or the charity of the donor’s choice
