Obituary for Ralph "Jack" Walburn
Ralph “Jack” Walburn. 84, of Grampian, passed away January 29, 2010, at the home of his daughter in York, PA surrounded by his family and friends.

Born March 30, 1925 in Penn Township he was the son of Earl and Lenora (Coons) Walburn.  He was a WWII Army Veteran who served in the 3rd Infantry Division in the European Theatre and received the Purple Heart for action in the Battle of the Hurtgen Forrest. He was a member of the Grampian Lion’s Club for 50 years receiving both the Melvin E Jones award and the Lion’s International award. He served on the Grampian Borough Council, Grampian Sewage Board, and was a union representative while working at Clearfield Clay, and was one of the first members of the Grampian Volunteer Fire Company, serving for over 25 years. He was always volunteering in his community, helping others, and was loved by all.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Theresa Weber Walburn of Grampian, PA, a daughter Barbara Titanish and her husband Ed Titanish of Stewartstown, PA., a son Michael Walburn and his wife Wendy Walburn of Dallastown, PA., a special nephew David Solley and his wife Shawn Solley of Morgantown, WV., three grandchildren; Scott Titanish and his wife Michelle Titanish of Richmond, VA., Danielle Titanish Walters and her husband James Walters of Stewartstown, PA., and Ryan Walburn of Dallastown, PA., and three great-grandchildren; Brody Titanish of  Richmond, VA., Hailey Walters of Stewartstown, PA, and Hayden Walters of Stewartstown, PA., brothers Franklin Walburn of Grampian, PA and William Walburn of Luthersburg, PA., and a sister Elsie Mutek.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Dianne Walburn David, brothers Albert and Floyd Walburn, and sisters Emma Walburn Woods, Lucy Walburn Welder, and Mary Walburn Johnson.

Funeral Services for Mr. Walburn will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Monday February 1, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Emmett Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends Cemetery . Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Sunday January 31, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Monday from 11:00 AM till the time of services at 1 PM. Members of the Grampian Lions Club will conduct a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home on Sunday at 6PM.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Grampian Lion’s Club care of Jim Bennett at PO Box 114, Grampian, PA 16838 or H.O.P.E (Help for Oncology Problems & Emotional Support) 16580 Green Valley Court, Stewartstown, PA. 17363. The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice for their help and support.
