Grampian: Raymond Mickey Spaid, 79, of Grampian, passed away Friday March 6, 2009 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center, Altoona Campus.

Born April 8, 1929 in LaJose, he was the son of Edward and Ethel (Michael) Spaid. Mr. Spaid was retired from Clearfield Truck Rentals. He was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Grampian, PA, was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, a member of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A.M. Curwensville, the Grampian Lions Club, the Grampian-Penn-Bloom Volunteer Fire Department, and was a graduate of Westover High School.

On November 13, 1972 in Hepburnia, he wed the former Dolores Pentz who survives along with 7 children. Charles E. “Chuck” Spaid of Woodland, Wanda Smeal and her husband Greg of Philipsburg, Randy Spaid and wife Kelly of DuBois, Tim Spaid and wife Eileen of Jacksonville, FL, Carol McMillan and husband Cloyd of Ohio, Rhonda Jo Hipps and husband John of Mifflinville, PA, and Deanne Carns and husband Gene of Oxford, PA.

Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and a sister. William Spaid of Curwensville, Betty Lou Kuntzman of LaJose and Kenneth Spaid and wife Ann of Lewis, DE as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Patricia Hess, and 2 sisters Helen Gallagher and Sarah Bell Leamer.

Services for Mr. Spaid will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday March 11, 2009 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverends Emmett Anderson and Gerald W. Spaid Sr. co-officiating.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday March 10 from 4 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services. The Grampian Lions Club will conduct a Lions Memorial Service Tuesday evening at 8 PM at the funeral home. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Joint Honor Guard

The Family suggests contributions be made to the Hepburnia United Methodist Church.

The Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.
