Curwensville: Raymond W. Owens 87, of Curwensville passed away Saturday December 9, 2023 at Ridgeview Elder Care after a short illness.
Born May 23, 1936 in Clearfield he was the son of Chester A. and Olive (Ogden) Owens. He was a graduate of Clearfield Area High School, and Clarion University of Pennsylvania. He was a United States Air Force Veteran.
He was an Air Traffic Controller at the Cleveland International Airport and Atlanta Airport. He also worked for the Department of Labor and Industry and also worked at the Unemployment Office in Clearfield.
He was a past member of the AACS Alumni Association, Clarion University Alumni, FAA Alumni, Clearfield American Legion, Curwensville L.O.O.M, Curwensville VFW.
He is survived by his wife Sharon (Caldwell) Owens of Curwensville, four children Dennis Owens (Alida) of Michigan, Lawrence “Larry” Owens (Lourdes) Owens of VA, Jay Owens (Lisa) of Michigan, and Elizabeth Carlin of AZ. 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, a step son Terry Bressler of VA. A sister Patricia Owens, and a brother David Owens (Sharon) of Clearfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Frank Owens.
Services for Mr. Owens will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Friday December 15, 2023 at 11 AM with Mr. Gary Jewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park. Military Honors will be accorded by member of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Thursday December 14, 2023 from 4-7 PM and on Friday from 10 AM till the time of services at 11 AM
