Obituary for Richard Allen (Dick) Swatsworth
Richard Allen “Dick” Swatsworth, 78, of Curwensville, passed away Friday May 31, 2013 at his residence.
Born January 31, 1935 in Curwensville, he was the son of Leonard “Chuck” and Josephine “Peg” (Passmore) Swatsworth. During his working career he had worked for River Hill Coal Company, D.W. Hummel and Sons, Eastern Molding, Fletcher Contracting, and Howes Leather. He was a former member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Company in Curwensville and the Curwensville L.O.O.M. He also was a
U S Naval Veteran.
On February 14, 1956 in Curwensville, he wed the former Shirley Ann Graham who preceded him in death on March 3, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a son Dicky Swatsworth, a granddaughter Mary Moore, a brother Leonard Swatsworth Jr. and a sister Jean Stiles.
Surviving are 6 children: Ricky A. “Whitey” Swatsworth, Michelle L. Mayhew and husband Tim, and Brian K. Swatsworth and companion Sharon Bloom, all of Curwensville, Pamela Stewart and husband Lee of Clarion , Kimberly Swatsworth and companion Don Shawley of Houtzdale and Lisa Mick and husband Jim of Glen Richey.
Also surviving are 4 grandsons, 6 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, a brother Lee Swatsworth and wife Maggie of Curwensville, and 2 sisters Susan Stephens and husband Allen “Tuffy” of Curwensville and Betty Kula and husband John of Olanta.
Services for Dick Swatsworth will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville, on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend George W. Solley officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday June 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 10 AM until time of services.
