Richard T. “Dick” Wheeler
Hershey: Richard T. “Dick” Wheeler 72 of Grampian went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Hershey Medical Center after a short illness.
Born May 10, 1951 in Dubois, PA, he was the son of Virgil and Edith (McCartney) Wheeler. He was a 1969 Graduate of Curwensville Area High School. He was a machinist for 30 years at the former DuPont, Berg, and FCI in Clearfield. His real passion was Auto Body. He painted his first car in 1967, and established Wheeler Body Shop in the 1970s part time while he worked full time as a machinist. Upon the closing of FCI in 2001, he owned and operated Wheeler Body Shop full time. In 2006, his son Rick joined him, and they continued Wheeler Body Shop as it is today.
Dick enjoyed hunting, going to camp, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid gun collector and shooter. He had a special bond with his beloved dog, Fancy. In his youth, he played in the Little League World Series.
On March 7, 1970, in Grampian, he wed Virginia “Ginger” (Lee) Wheeler who survives, along with his father Virgil Wheeler of Grampian, Four children Shelly Wriglesworth (Drew) of Curwensville, Susie Bloom (Dan) of Bowling Green, OH, Rick Wheeler (Dawna) of Curwensville, and Kimberly Wheeler of Hepburnia. 11 grandchildren Lauren Conrad, Paige Conrad, Krystal Wriglesworth, Ava Bloom, Elliot Bloom, Lucy Bloom, Katy Bloom, Juliette Bloom, Tess Wheeler, Ada Wheeler, and Chet Wheeler. Also surviving are three sisters Kathy Wheeler and companion Gary Moore, Ellen Stoyek (Gary) all of Curwensville, and Mary Muller (Peter) of Lebanon, PA. And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and infant son, Joseph.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 11 AM with Rev. Father Stephen Collins as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Tuesday August 15, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and on Wednesday August 16 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Bonaventure Church or Grampian Area Ministerium Food Pantry and Home Mission housed at St. Bonaventure Church c/o St. Timothy parish 306 Walnut Street Curwensville, PA
