Obituary for Robert Eugene Desmett
Robert Eugene “Bob” Desmett, 82, of Rural Madera, passed away Thursday December 10, 2020 at the Penn Highlands Hospital in DuBois.
Born December 18. 1937 in McCartney, he was the son of Ashley and Florance (Howe) Desmett. He was retired as a heavy equipment operator having worked for the former Benjamin Coal Company. He was a U S Naval Veteran.
He was a member of the Oak Ridge Union Church, McCartney, where he had served as a Deacon, was a PeeWee Football Coach for 30 years, and had served as the President of the Moshannon Valley Football Boosters.
On December 17, 1960 in the Oak Ridge Union Church, he wed the former Norma Coder who preceded him in death on February 9, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son Mark Desmett; 2 granddaughters Tricia Rose Desmett and Kristen Desmett; 2 sisters Pearl Gillen and Cathryn Potkalisky; and 4 brothers George “Bud”, Marvin “Barney”, Charles, and Marlowe Desmett.
Surviving are 3 children: Robert E. Desmett Jr. and his significant other Heather Olson of Curwensville, Lorrie Clark and husband Rick of Grampian, and Pam Lockett and husband Rodney of McCartney. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a sister Victoria Miles and husband John of Irvona.
Funeral Services for Robert “Bob” Desmett will be held at the Oak Ridge Union Church on Sunday December 13, 2020 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Michael Knepp officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, New Millport.
Friends will be received at the church on Sunday from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM. Due to State, Federal and CDC Health Regulations, masks must be worn at all times during the visitation and funeral service.
