Obituary for Robert Ross "Neeb" Shafer Jr.
Robert Ross “Neeb” Shafer Jr., 79, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday January 26, 2021 at his residence due to complications from COVID-19.
Born October 28, 1941 in Clearfield, he was the son of Robert Ross Sr. and Lillie Mae (Faulkner) Shafer. Mr. Shafer was retired from the former Howes Leather Co. in Curwensville after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church and was a former member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co.
Surviving are three sisters: Susan S. Seaburn of Detroit, MI, Janice M. O’Dell-Winter and husband Dick of Linden, and Karen M. Shafer of DuBois. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and grandnieces and grandnephews. He will also be sadly missed by his beagles Bitsy and Charlie and his cat Jack.
The family would also like to thank his caregiver, Lacey Lesveque, for her dedicated service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Shirley Ann VanBlargan.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Curwensville VFW on Saturday August 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Gary B. Jewart officiating. Interment was in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
All friends and family are invited to a buffet luncheon immediately following the Celebration of Life Service at the Curwensville VFW.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Curwensville Presbyterian Church * 430 Locust Street * Curwensville, PA 16833.
