Obituary for Roger Lee Mahlon Sr.
Roger Lee Mahlon, 53, of Chesapeake, VA and formerly of Grampian, passed away Thursday October 25, 2018 at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, after a brief illness.
Born December 12, 1964 in Clearfield, he was the on of John Taylor and E. Jane (McClinsey) Mahlon. Mr. Mahlon was employed by the U S Department of Defense as a Security Instillation Analyst. He was a 1982 graduate of Curwensville Area High School and had received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He was a veteran with both the U S Army, U S Army Reserves, and U S Navy. While on deployment aboard the USS Normandy, he fired two Tomahawk Missiles into Bosnia.
He was a member of both the Clearfield VFW and American Legion, he owned and operated Chesapeake Bait and Tackle, and had been a former Scout Master
On August 17, 1992 he wed the former Barbara R. Selvage who survives along with two sons: Roger Lee Mahlon Jr. and Alex Joseph Mahlon, both at home. Also surviving is his mother of Grampian, PA and three sisters: Eileen Krom and husband Michael of Texas Nancy Gearhart and husband Sam of Madera and Barbara Rowles and husband Harry of Grampian.
He was preceded in death by his father, a brother John Mahlon, two infant brothers and a niece Harley Rowles
Funeral Services for Roger Lee Mahlon will be held at the Greenville Church of the Brethren 3995 Greenville Pike Grampian, PA 16838 on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM, with Mr. Michael Krom officiating. Interment will be in the Greenville Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the church.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday October 30 from 5 to 8 PM, and again on Wednesday October 31 from 11:00 AM until 1:15 PM, when the procession will depart for the church.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society 108 R North Second Street Clearfield, PA 16830.
