Obituary for Veryl Jane Sutika
Veryl Jane Sutika, 89, of Grampian, passed away Tuesday June 24, 2014 at Penn Highlands DRMC after a short illness.

Born February 21, 1925 in Grampian, she was the daughter of Charles and Daisy (Spencer) Danver. Mrs. Sutika was a homemaker, was a graduate of Clearfield High School, a member of St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church in Grampian where she was a member of St. Theresa’s Guild, and was a member of the former GFWC Woman’s Club of Grampian.

On July 20, 1946 in Grampian, she wed Andrew J. Sutika who preceded her in death on January 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter Jennifer Sutika, an infant sister Aldene Danver, a sister Olive V. Danver, and a brother and sister-in-law Bertrum “Bud” and Inez “Mickie” Danver. She was the last member of her generation.

Surviving are 9 children: Andrew “Butch” Sutika Jr. and wife Alyce, Carolyn Shaffer and husband Donald, Sandra Verrelli and husband Gary, Michael Sutika and wife Betty Jo, and John Sutika and wife Cheryl all of Grampian, Patricia Bressler and husband Scott of Olanta, Mary Kay Reiter and husband Ronald of Curwensville, Nancy Valenza and husband Ronald of Clearfield, and Donna Taylor of Beaver Falls.

Also surviving are 24 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law Margaret Harzinski and husband Raymond of Curwensville.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Bonaventure Roman Catholic Church Main Street Grampian, PA on Friday June 27, 2014 at 10:30 AM, with Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant and Reverend Father Joseph P. Staszewski as con-celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery Grampian.

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc., Curwensville on Thursday June 26 from 2 to 8 PM and again Friday morning from 9 to 10 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.

The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Theresa’s Guild Thursday at 1:30 PM followed by a Scripture Vigil Services Thursday at 7:45 PM, both at the funeral home.

The family suggests contributions be made to the Andrew J. and Veryl J. Sutika Memorial Scholarship Fund in c/o 300 State Street Curwensville, PA 16833.
