Vincent J. Centra Sr.
Clearfield: Vincent James Centra Sr., 77, of Clearfield, passed away Friday evening March 6, 2009 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Born April 2, 1931 in Clearfield, he was the son of Archangelo and Salvatrice (Lamendola) Centra. He first worked for the Pa Dept of Forestry at Parker Dam State Park and was retired from the Operating Engineers Local 66B having worked for Herbert R. Imp, Inc. He was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield.
Surviving are 7 children: L. Elaine Karchner of Worthington, PA, Vincent James Centra Jr. and wife Debra of Frenchville, Markay Boalich, Chris Centra and wife Susan and Perry Centra and wife Catherine “Kitty” all of Clearfield, Wendy Bachelier and husband David of Kittanning, and Colleen Round and husband Terry of Olanta.
Also surviving are grandchildren Lisa Davis, Lindsay (Karchner) Michael, Kari Centra, Justin Centra, Hillary (Karchner) Wilson, Grant Butler, Rodney Boalich, Chris Centra, Dillon Karchner, Meredith Bachelier, Taylor Round, Matthew Bachelier, and Jared Round, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and a brother. Madeline Centra and Anna Teats both of Biloxi, MS, Joseph Centra and wife Jessie of Clearfield, and Mary Grace DeMarco of LA, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by his former wife Shirley Centra Gaiser of Worthington, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Lucy Reano and Rose Teats, and 3 brothers Angelo, Anthony, and Salvatore Centra.
Services for Mr. Centra will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday March 10 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend David Kitchen officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday March 9 from 7 to 9 PM, and Tuesday from 9 AM until time of services.
