Obituary for Virginia Mae Barrett
Virginia Mae Barrett, 84, of Kerrmoor, passed away Tuesday April 7, 2015 at her residence.
 
Born November 2, 1930 in New Millport, PA, she was the daughter of Byron and Ethel (Swatsworth) Sloppy.  Mrs. Barret was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City, PA.
 
On November 13, 1952 in Mahaffey, PA, she wed James Blair Barrett who preceded her in death on December 13, 1999.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, her paternal grandparents Henry and Lenora Sloppy, her maternal grandparents Arthur and Fay Swatsworth, a son Nelson Barrett, a granddaughter Jacqueline Barrett, a grandson Michael Barrett, and 2 sisters Esther Sloppy and Hallie “Betty” Bloom.
 
Surviving are 2 children Russell Sloppy and wife Nancy of Kerrmoor and Sharon Seger and husband George of Curwensville, 6 grandchildren Russell Wade and Jason Sloppy, Matthew and Courtney Segar and Christopher Barrett, and 9 great grandchildren Joshua, Hayden, Jacob, Jonah, and Jett Sloppy, Taylor Segar, Brittany and Brandon Wagner, and Lauren Tobias.
 
Also surviving are 2 brothers and 2 sisters.  Byron “Jerry” Sloppy and wife Elaine and Shirley Cowfer and husband Fred both of New Millport, Olive Haney of Curwensville, and Mervil Sloppy and wife Nancy of Clearfield, and her good friend Mary Wetherson.
 
There will be no public visitation, a Memorial Service for Mrs. Barrett will be held at the Faith Bible Church in Lumber City on Saturday April 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Scott Schultz officiating.  Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd. Altoona, PA 16602 or the Orphans of the Storm 412 Hill Street Curwensville, PA 16833.
