Obituary for Willard Edward "Butch" Maines
Willard Edward "Butch" Maines. 70, of Grampian, passed away Sunday February 3, 2019 at his residence.
Born May 7, 1948 in Elwood City, he was the son of Willard T. and Louella (Dixon) Maines. Mr. Maines had worked for the Waroquier Coal Co. and the Hepburnia Coal Co. as a heavy equipment operator and then had worked as a truck driver for St. Joseph Trucking Co., Butler Trucking Co., Bill Barfield Trucking Co., and Peerless Trucking Co. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
On October 11, 1969 in Grampian, he wed the former Joan M. Clapsaddle who survives along with 3 children: Willard E. Maines Jr. of California, Michael P. Maines of Clearfield and Jennifer A. Clark and husband Adam of Grampian and 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Austin, Jared, Riann and Lydia.
Also surviving are 11 siblings: Anna Mae Zeigler and husband Bill of Butler, Mary Harman and Barbara Copp and husband Jerry both of Prospect, Shirley Maines of Shiloh, Sarah Zeigler of Clearfield, Ethel Lipson of MA, Louis Maines and wife Barb of GA, Robert “Buzz Maines and wife Eva of Olanta, Wanita Maines of Clearfield, Linda Maines of AZ and Debbie Wilt of Hyde.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Mr. Maines will be held in the Chapel at St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Grampian on Saturday June 15, 2019 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Douglas Turner officiating. Interment will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Military Honors will be accorded at the Cemetery by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
The family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 108 Rear N. Second Street, Suite 1B Clearfield, PA 16830.
