Obituary for William D. Black
William D. “Bill” Black 84 of Curwensville passed away Friday July 31, 2009 at the Clearfield Hospital after a brief illness.
Born July 16, 1925 in Curwensville, he was the son of Dorsey and Melva H. (Leight) Black. Mr. Black was retired from Kurtz Brothers in Clearfield. He was a Naval Veteran of World War II and a life member of the Curwensville VFW and a member of the NRA. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
She is survived by a sister Kathryn “Dee” Black of Curwensville as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother John Black and a sister Mabel Curry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Wednesday August 5, 2009 at 10:00 AM, with the Reverend father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery of Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Tuesday August 4 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, and Wednesday from 9:00 Am until 9:30 AM, when the procession will depart for the church.
The Rosary will be recited Tuesday at 3 PM and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted Tuesday at 7:45 PM, both at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville Public Library or St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville.
