Obituary for Mary Geraldine (Geri) Peno
Mary Geraldine “Geri” Peno. 88, of Curwensville, passed away Saturday June 15, 2013 at her residence.
 
Born November 9, 1924 in Dean, Cambria County, she was the daughter of Gerald Francis and Edith Helen (Plunket) Jacobs.  She was a homemaker, and had worked at the following jobs.  She was a cook at the former Tastee-Freez in Curwensville, had worked at the Curwensville Lake, and retired from the Shaw Public Library in Clearfield.  Her and her husband had co-owned the first cable company in Curwensville.
 
She was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She loved taking care of her family, cooking, and cleaning.
 
She was wed to James Henry Peno on February 7, 1948 in Frugality, PA, and who preceded her in death on March 26, 1982.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother Fred Jacobs and 2 infant siblings.
 
Surviving are 5 children: Michael Peno and wife Linda of Clearwater, FL, Jacquelyn Peno of New Orleans, LA, Linda Bell of Pleasant Gap, Beth Pearce and husband Bob of Kylertown, and Jill Vega of Palm Springs, CA.
 
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Michael, Jason, Misty, Erin, Meghan, and Robbie, 10 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Ann Jacobs of Dean, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.  Louise Conrad, Patricia Conzo and husband Dick, and George Jacobs and wife Doris all of Altoona, Lorraine Gregg and James Jacobs and wife Miriam both of Dean, and Donna Mae Reed of New Jersey.
 
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville on Friday June 21, 2013 at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant.  Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery New Millport.
 
At the request of Mrs. Peno, there will be no public visitation.
