Obituary for John Guard Butler Sr.
John Guard Butler Sr., 51, of Hyde, passed away Sunday morning August 7, 2011 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center – West after a lengthy illness.

Born February 9, 1960 in Clearfield, he was the son of Alfred Sr. and Lois (Palmer) Butler. He was employed as a mechanic supervisor for the Army Reserve Center in Golden Rod, Clearfield. He served with the U. S. Army for 35 years having last been deployed to Iraq in 2004 – 2005. His last rank was Master Sergeant.

He was Methodist by Faith, was a member of A.B.A.T.E. of Clearfield and was a member of the Clearfield VFW and the Clearfield American Legion.

On August 23, 1997 in Hyde, he wed the former Beth Krider who survives along with 3 children. John G. Butler Jr. of Sackets Harbor, NY, Jennifer Butler Clark and husband Justin of Grampian and Ronald Knepp of Hyde.

Also surviving are two granddaughters Alexis and Alazay Clark and a sister Crystal Shaw of Woodland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Alfred Butler Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Butler will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 16 North Front Street Clearfield, PA on Thursday August 11, 2011 at 10:30 AM, with the Reverend Robert Croft officiating. Interment will be in the Bradford Cemetery Woodland, PA.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday August 10 from 6 to 8 PM and Thursday from 9:30 AM until time of services at 10:30 AM.

Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
