Born November 27, 1922 in Curwensville, PA he was the son of Joseph and Theresa (Baldisarra) Spinelli. Mr. Spinelli had first worked for Stratten Automotive in Clearfield, then was a salesman for Bear Alignment Equipment, and was retired as the owner and operator of Spinelli Mobile Service Station in Clearfield after 15 years of service. He loved to fish, play golf and perform tricks for his grandkids and great grandkids
He was a World War II US Army Veteran having served at and during the Battle of the Bulge and the European Theater. He was a graduate of Curwensville High School and also a 1948 graduate of the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He was a member of St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville where he had served as an usher and member of the men’s organization.
On July 12, 1947 at St. Timothy Church he wed the former Flora M. Maloni. who survives along with three sons. Ronald J. Spinelli and wife Ellen of Boalsburg, Lawrence P. Spinelli of Hawaii and Joseph F. Spinelli III of State College. Also surviving are 2 grandchildren Jason Spinelli and wife Aimee of Colorado and Dana Spinelli of State College as well as 2 great grandchildren Cecelia Shannon Spinelli and Franco Spinelli.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Vincent Violanti, Congie Spinelli and William Spinelli and three sisters Assunta Cologgi, Josephine Cologgi and Rose Marrara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Timothy’s Roman Catholic Church 306 Walnut St Curwensville on Monday August 15, 2016 at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Father Mark J. Mastrian as Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. 300 State St Curwensville on Sunday August 14 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and again on Monday from 9 to 9:40 AM when the procession will depart for the church. Military Honors will be conducted by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society on Sunday at 1:45 PM and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:45 PM Sunday, both at the funeral home.
