Obituary for Jim Johnston
James R. “Jim” Johnston, 77, of Grampian, passed away Wednesday November 10, 2021 at his residence.
Born July 16, 1944 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of William and Calista (Gardner) Johnston. Mr. Johnston had worked in construction, a surveyor for McDonald Coal Co., Fink Transportation, Meals on Wheels, and the former Superior Pets Products in Curwensville. He was a member of the West Branch Meeting, Religious Society of Friends in Grampian.
He was a member of the Curwensville VFW, the Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., the former Curwensville JayCees, and a former Little League Baseball Coach for the Clearfield Cheese team
On July 18, 1964 he wed the former Joyce Lee Hanes who preceded him in death on December 21, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother William.
Surviving are two daughters: Kelly Bowes and husband David of Northeast and Jamie Wilsoncroft and husband Robert Jr. of Clearfield and five grandchildren Kaitlin, Kristin, and Kacey Bowes and Kimberly and James Wilsoncroft; and his companion Linda Henry of Grampian and her boys Chad Henry and wife Sheila of Casper, WY and Jason Henry and wife Erica of Burgettstown; and grandchildren: Megan, Danielle, Mason, Brenna, Jameson, and Emmi
Also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Phyllis Addleman and husband Charles, Sylvia Mitchell and husband Louis, and Bob Johnston and wife Cheryl all of Clearfield; Doreen Harris and husband Thomas of Olanta; Mark Johnston and wife Diane of Mineral Springs; and John Johnston and wife Barbara of Lumber City.
Funeral Services for James Johnston will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with Overseer Lori Rancik officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday November 12, 2021 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Friends Cemetery or the Bloomington Cemetery.
