John W. “Jack” Thurstin
DuBois: John W. “Jack Thurstin 87 of Curwensville passed away Thursday December 14, 2023 at The DuBois Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born June 3, 1936 in Clearfield he was the son of William and Enna Loiuse (Miles) Thurstin. He was a United States Navy Veteran.
He was a manager of Super Duper and ACME Food market. He retired from NARCO as a supervisor after 32 years of service. He was also a Census Taker.
Member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church and involved in the annual Christmas Pageant The Search for Peace. Involved with the March of Dimes in Clearfield and was a singer in the Wonderers Quartet.
On June 7, 1958 in DuBois he wed Shirley (Marshall) Thurstin who survives of Curwensville along with 3 children Randall Thurstin (Cheri) of Curwensville, Michelle Chalker (Scott) of Binghamton, NY, Joseph “Joe” Thurstin (Darby) Wellsboro, PA. 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Sister Sherri Gill (William) Olanta, and a brother Darryl Shaw of LeBanon, PA. And numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Marcia Thurstin, sisters Marjorie Munchak, Karen Shaw, and a brother Leeland Shaw Jr.
Funeral Services for Jack Thurstin will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc of Curwensville on Wednesday December 20, 2023 at 1 PM with Rev. John White officiating. Interment will be held in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 AM till the time of services at 1 PM.
