Obituary for Ronald Butler
Ronald Butler, 86, of Stronach, passed away Saturday evening February 9, 2019 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born May 19, 1932 in Clearfield, he was the son of Clair and Katherine (Marshall) Butler. Ron pridefully drove trucks and was an owner/operator for over 60 years.
He was the last surviving founding member of the Grampian-Penn-Bloom Volunteer Fire Company. He was a member St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Grampian, a member of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A. M. Curwensville and Post # 842 Curwensville VFW.
He loved to hunt and fish, spend time at hunting camp and loved to tell his kids and grandkids stories about his childhood companion, which was his dog “Jiggers”.
On April 29, 1955, he wed the former Helen McCall who survives along with 3 children: Robin Butler and spouse Corey Conaway, Rick Butler and spouse Marty, Todd Butler and spouse Karen, and a daughter-in-law Mary Beth Butler.
Also surviving are 10 Grandchildren: Wendy Horchen, Nicole Nester, Matthew Butler, Ryan Hess, Brandon Hess, Daniel Butler, Taylor Butler, Krista Bortot, Thad Butler and Cael Butler as well as 10 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronald Butler Jr. and a brother Roy Butler.
All are welcomed to attend Funeral Services for Ronald Butler at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Sixth Street in Grampian on Friday February 15, 2019 at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Edward Gresick and Mr. Todd Butler co-officiating.
Friends will be received at the church on Fridsy from 10:30 AM until time of services at 11:00 AM
Private interment services will be held at the Friends Cemetery in Grampian at the convenience of the family and Military Honors will be accorded by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted by members of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A.M. prior to the funeral service at 11:00 AM.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the “Ron Butler Memorial Football Scholarship Fund” in care of 300 State Street Curwensville, PA 16833
