Chester C. Chidboy

Chester C. Chidboy was born on September 17, 1926 in Glen Campbell, Indiana County, PA. He was the son of Frank and Mae Chidboy. He was a 1942 graduate of Montgomery Township High School and after graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving until 1946.

After the Army, he first enrolled in the Casey Jones School of Aeronautics, followed by attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Rutgers State University of New Jersey.

In 1950, he enrolled at the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1951. After serving his apprenticeship at the former Bell Funeral Home in Indiana, PA, he purchased the former Lt. Col. Edwin A. Irvin/Dr. Elmo Erhard building in Curwensville, PA in 1952. After a year of fixing, remodeling, and repairing the building, he opened the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home on April 11, 1953 and 11 days later on April 22, 1953, he wed the former Martha J. Kibler of Brush Valley, Indiana County, PA. They had one daughter Shelia Lynn Chidboy born July 1, 1961. From 1953 until the late 1980’s, and with the incorporation of the business in 1980. they ran the funeral home until turning the day to day running of the operations over to their son-in-law in 1988.

Mr. Chidboy was active in many organizations during his career including being a member and past president of the Curwensville Rotary Club where he was instrumental in creating the Rotary Citizen of the Year given every year at Curwensville Days and the Curwensville Rotary Christmas Lighting Fund which takes care of the Borough’s Christmas Lights, He was a member and past President of the Curwensville PTA, and was Curwensville Representative to the Pennsylvania State PTA organization. He also was a member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association where he had served on the State Legislative Committee.

He also was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the Jefferson-Clearfield County Funeral Directors Association, and was a former member of the International Order of the Golden Rule. He also served on the Local Red Cross and American Cancer Society Boards, and was a former member of the Curwensville Lions Club.

William C. “Bill” Williams Jr.

Bill Williams Jr. was born June 23, 1957 in Philipsburg, PA and is the son of Barbara Ann (Merrifield) Williams and the late William C. Williams Sr. He is a 1975 graduate of Clearfield Area High School – Clearfield, PA, a 1980 Graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania – Bloomsburg, PA with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer and Information Science and a 1981 Graduate of the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science – Cincinnati, Ohio with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Mortuary Science. He wed the former Shelia L. Chidboy on June 7, 1980 and they have one daughter Shaina Marie Williams born September 16, 1982.

On returning to Curwensville, PA and completely his internship at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. and passing his state boards, he received his license to practice funeral directing in January of 1983.

Mr. Williams has been a member of and has served in various offices of numerous organizations. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association where he was a former board member and served as State President in 1999-2000 and is currently a member of the Legislative Committee. He also is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association where he had served as a member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee. He also is a member of the Jefferson/Clearfield County Funeral Directors Association.

He was appointed to the Clearfield County Industrial Development Authority where he currently serves as treasurer, is the Clearfield County representative to the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Economic and Planning Commission, and was a former member of the Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation.

He is a member of the Curwensville Rotary Club where he was a past President and is currently the Chairman of the Rotary Christmas Lighting Fund, the Curwensville Rotary Flag Committee, and the Curwensville Rotary Citizen of the Year Committee. He is also in his final year of being Assistant Governor in District 7350 and is on the District Youth Exchange Committee.

He is currently a member and Recording Secretary of the Curwensville Development Corporation, Chairman of the Curwensville Days Permanent Committee, is the Field Announcer for Riverside Stadium during Curwensville Golden Tide home football games, and is a lifetime member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. He is a member of the Noble Lodge #480 F. & A. M. Curwensville, Clearfield Lodge #540 B.P.O.E., and Curwensville L.O.O.M. Lodge #268.

David E. Franson II

David E. Franson was born January 27, 1977 in Clearfield, the son of David and Lynn (Santini) Franson. He is a 1995 Graduate of Clearfield Area High School – Clearfield, PA, a 2001 graduate of DuBois Business College – DuBois, PA with an Associate Degree in Specialized Business, and a 2002 Graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science – Pittsburgh, PA. After completing his internship and passing his state boards, he received his license to practice funeral directing in December of 2003. He wed the former Shaina M. Williams on June 5, 2004.

Mr. Franson is a member and past president of the Curwensville Lions Club, is a member of the Clearfield Vol. Fire Dept. and is past President of Station 1. He is a member and current President of the Clearfield County Fair and Park Board which oversees the Clearfield County Fair, the fourth largest in the state of Pennsylvania. He is a current board member of the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce, the Clearfield Downtown Business Authority, and the Clearfield Emergency Medical Services Board of Directors.

He is a member of Clearfield Lodge #540 B.P.O.E. and the Clearfield Sons of Italy.
