Obituary for Barbara Ann Tubbs
Barbara Ann Tubbs, 79, of Curwensville, went to be with her Lord on Friday July 3, 2015 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield after a lengthy illness.
 
Born November 4, 1935 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of John Marsden and Elizabeth Jeanette (Young) Bowers.  She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Progressor’s Sunday School Class, was a member of and past President of the United Methodist Women, she was a past member and past chairman of the Pastor Parish Relations Committee, along with her husband Gene was a past Youth Fellowship leader and had also served the church working in the kitchen and dining room for numerous dinners and luncheons.
 
She served 9 years on the Clearfield Hospital Board of Directors and many years on the Clearfield County American Cancer Society which included 2 terms as President.  She also served numerous years with the Curwensville Music Boosters Association
 
She attended the South Side Elementary School, the Locust Street School and graduated from the Patton High School all in Curwensville.  She also graduated from the former Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from I.U.P. in 1972, and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Guidance from I.U.P. in 1975.  Prior to graduating from high school, she had worked at the former Addleman’s Store and the former Keystone Restaurant, both in Curwensville.
 
She was an instructor at the former Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing from 1956 to 1969, was an instructor at the former Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing from 1969 thru 1977, and from 1977 until her retirement in 1997, was an instructor in the Practical School of Nursing program at the Clearfield County Vo-Tech (Clearfield County Career and Technology Center) spending nearly 41 years being an educator in the field of nursing
 
On September 14, 1956 at the Curwensville United Methodist Church she wed Eugene Boyd “Gene” Tubbs who preceded her in death on October 15, 2012.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, grandparents William Harrison and Lucinda Mae (Williams) Young and Charles and Emma (Redfern) Bowers, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Victor & Delevene Tubbs, brother-in-law Dudley Tubbs and an infant brother-in-law Singleton Tubbs Jr.
 
 Surviving are three daughters Elizabeth “Betsy” Bowser and her husband Fred of Dubois, Tonda Beard and her husband Doug of Curwensville, and Jacqueline “Jackie” Densmore and her husband Michael of Leesburg VA. 2 grandchildren Casey L. Linsenbigler and his wife Amanda of Frenchville, and Christopher W. Densmore of Leesburg, VA. two great grandchildren Jersey R. Linsenbigler and Rece T. Linsenbigler.
                                                                                                                                             
Also surviving is a sister Emma Jean Horton and husband Curt of State College,  two brothers-in-law Thomas Tubbs and his wife Helen of Curwensville and Charles Kenneth Tubbs and his wife Louise of North Tonawanda, NY, and a sister-in-law Donna Tubbs of Luthersburg, and an ex son-in-law Dave Linsenbigler of Curwensville. 
 
A Celebration of Life Service for Mrs. Tubbs will be conducted at The Curwensville United Methodist Church 602 State Street Curwensville, on Thursday July 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM with the Reverends Dr. Robert Ludrowsky and John F. White co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
 
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday July 8 from 3 to 8 PM, and again on Thursday at the church from 9 AM until time of services at 11 AM
 
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at 602 State Street Curwensville, PA 16833 or the Nursing Alumni Association of Clearfield Hospital c/o Joan Myers 2541 Meadow Road Clearfield, PA 16830
