Obituary for Clifford Albert Johnson
Clifford Albert Johnson, 90, of New Millport, passed away Tuesday January 12, 2010 at the Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield.
Born October 3, 1919 in McCartney, he was the son of John Albert and Dora (McMonigal) Johnson. Mr. Johnson was employed as a bridge construction worker having worked for Reed and Coon Construction Co. and Witzel Construction Co. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Olanta, PA.
He was a member of Noble Lodge #480 F. & A. M. Curwensville, the Clearfield Shrine Club and Oriental Band, and the Jaffa Temple in Altoona. He also was a member of the Curwensville L.O.O.M. #268 and also was a Legion of Moose as well as a member of the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 and the Curwensville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #842.
On August 16, 1941 in Winchester, VA, he wed the former Guinivere S. Snyder who survives along with a daughter Marlene Kay Shugarts and her husband Robert of Indiatlantic, Fl. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Carl and LeRoy Johnson. He was the last member of his generation.
Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Saturday January 16, 2010 at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Christine Freeman-Frank officiating. Interment will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday January 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, and Saturday from 11 AM until time of services at 1 PM. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Noble Lodge #480 F. & A. M. Curwensville will conduct Masonic Memorial Services Friday evening at 6:30 PM followed by the Curwensville L.O.O.M. #268 conducting Moose Memorial Services Friday evening at 7:15 PM, both at the funeral home.
