DuBois: Dean R. Von Gunden 84 of Curwensville passed away Wednesday May 3, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born July 26, 1938 in Clearfield he was the son of Russell and Hilda (Strunk) Von Gunden. He had been employed at Soults Wholesale and retired from McDowell Manufacturing as a press operator. He attended Hope Baptist Church in Clearfield.
He enjoyed Curwensville Athletics especially football. He was on the football chain crew for numerous years. He coached Sr. Little League, was a PIAA Wrestling Referee, and an avid bowler.
He was an Airforce Veteran.
On July 1, 1966 in Grampian he wed Sandra “Sandy” (Hess) Von Gunden who survives of Curwensville along with 3 children Richard Von Gunden (Nikki) of Clearfield, Lori Von Gunden of DuBois, and Gary Von Gunden of Curwensville. 3 grandchildren Hannah Von Gunden, Noah Von Gunden, and Natalie Von Gunden.
He was the last member of his generation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold Von Gunden, 2 sisters Florence Unch, and Audrey Hertlein.
A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hope Baptist Church 6352 Woodland Hwy, Clearfield, PA 16830.
