Obituary for Ella Kephart Baughman
Ella Kephart Baughman, 95, a resident of Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away Saturday evening, November 28, 2009 at the Center.
Born April 26, 1914 in Boggs Township, she was the daughter of Hugh and Margaret Elizabeth (Smeal) Kephart. Mrs. Baughman had worked for Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, The Clearfield Cheese Plant, Kantars 5 & 10, Curwensville Nursing Home, and was retired from the Curwensville Area School District. She was a member of the Ohio U.M.C. in Morgan Run but had attended the Curwensville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Curwensville.
On February 13, 1937 in Morgan Run, she wed Clark Baughman who preceded her in death on October 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, grandchildren Matthew, Annie, and Amy, and 4 sisters: Iona Kephart, Gladys Woods, Martha Woods, and Bertha Reish. She was the last member of her generation.
Surviving are 6 children: Kay Hendershot and her husband Orie of Port Richey, FL, Marilyn Remaly and her husband Allen of Saratoga Springs, NY, Jane Rowles of Philipsburg, Galen “Bud” Baughman and his wife Gloria of Hyde, and Rex Baughman and his wife Deanna and Roger Baughman and his wife Connie both of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Baughman will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Wednesday December 2, 2009 at 2:30 PM with the Reverend Stephen Shields officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday December 1 from 6 to 9 PM, and Wednesday from 12 Noon until time of services.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville Alliance Church 725 Susquehanna Avenue Curwensville, PA 16833 or the Ohio United Methodist Church 2578 Ashland Road Osceola Mills, PA 16666.
