Obituary for Joe Sherwood Wriglesworth
Joe Sherwood Wriglesworth, 85, of Hepburnia, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his residence.

Born August 7, 1935 in Penn Township, he was the son of Clair N. and Hilda K. (Rishell) Wriglesworth. Joe was a farmer, had worked for Quaker Hill Dairy, and was the owner/operator of Clearfield Agway. He also worked part-time constructing pole buildings. He was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Church, the Grampian Lions Club, Penn Grange, and the Anderson Creek Sportsman Club. Joe was also a US Army Veteran during the Korean War Era..

Joe was a Charter Member of the Curwensville FFA, and a founding member of the Clearfield County Junior Livestock Sales Committee. He was well known for the Pancake and Sausage Fundraisers throughout the area, for providing lots of laughs in several Grampian Days Plays, as well as being involved in several other ways with the Grampian Days Celebrations.

Joe had played baseball at various levels, and his enjoyment of the sport continued, as he loved watching his grandkids play. He also enjoyed square dancing, and bowled for the Hepburnia Coal Co. Team at the Clearfield Lanes. Joe was a supporter of the Clearfield County 4-H Clubs and the Clearfield County Fair Queen Committee. He was an avid fan of the Curwensville Area High School Sports teams, and was a past President of the Curwensville Band Association.

On June 12, 1965 at Chestnut Grove, he wed the former Lois I. Bloom who survives, along with three children: Holly Boyer and husband Scott, and Julia Wriglesworth, all of Grampian; Clair Wriglesworth and wife Kristin of Clearfield. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Brett Sears, Alex Wriglesworth, Benjamin Wriglesworth and Noah Wriglesworth; and a sister Jean Hinneburg of Hepburnia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert C. Wriglesworth, and four sisters: Frances Pentz, Ella Bell, Madeline Miller, and Catherine Schwarzbach.

Funeral Services for Joe Wriglesworth will be held at the Hepburnia United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Rick Butler officiating. Interment will be at the Friends Cemetery, Grampian, at a later date. Military Honors will be accorded at the church by members of the Grampian American Legion..

Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday, July 16, 2021 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM.
