Obituary for Martha Marion Hoyt
Martha Marion (Davis) Hoyt, 90, a resident of Ridgeview Elder Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Curwensville, and formerly of Curwensville, passed away Saturday November 11, 2017 at Ridgeview.
Born January 20, 1927 in Port Homer, OH, she was the daughter of William and Mary (Little) Davis. Mrs. Hoyt was a homemaker and had also retired from the former MacGregor Sportswear of Clearfield as a seamstress. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Clearfield where she had also taught Sunday School.
She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union Local 118B, the Eastern Star, the Martha Washington Lodge of Clearfield, the Red Hat Society, was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, the VFW Auxiliary, a former member of the L.O.O.M. and was a loving mother and grandmother.
On August 1, 1944 in Clearfield, she wed Charles Hoyt who preceded her in death on September 19, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter and infant son, brothers: Walter, Raymond, Harold and Daniel Davis and sisters Peggy Leigey and Thelma Hagan
Surviving are 3 children: Linda Holt and husband Gerald of Sykesville, MD, Russell Holt and wife Charlene of Curwensville and Doris Jean Anderson of Grampian. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 brothers William Davis and wife Anna and Edward Davis and wife Kathy both of Clearfield.
There will be no public visitation.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Hoyt will be held in the Chapel of Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde on Friday November 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Scott Schultz officiating.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Clearfield Free Methodist Church 520 Turnpike Avenue Clearfield, PA 16830.
