Obituary for Philip Joseph Pterone
Philip Joseph Petrone, 86, of Curwensville, passed away Tuesday September 1, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born December 5, 1922 in Reynoldsville, he was the son of Luigi and Thomasina (Malangoni) Petrone. Mr. Petrone was employed by the Curwensville Feed Store and was retired as the manager of the DuBois Feed Store after 50 total years of service.
He was a US Marine Corp veteran of World War II was a member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842, was a life member of the Curwensville Rescue Hose and Ladder Co., and was affiliated with the Jehovah Witnesses.
On January 10, 1953 in Curwensville, he wed the former Sarabelle Hoyt who survives along with 3 children: Judy Tubbs and her husband Robert and Jon Petrone and his wife Tracy both of Curwensville, and Claudia Kitko and her husband David of Houtzdale.

Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Matt Tubbs serving with the U S Army at the Tallil Air Force Base in Iraq, Angela, Kristin, and Michael Kitko of Houtzdale, and Karley Petrone of Curwensville, and 3 brothers and a sister. Dominic Petrone of Clearfield, Herb Petrone and his wife Jeanne of Curwensville, James Petrone and his wife Retta of Florida, and Violet Petrone of New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Bredmond Petrone, Margaret Tucker and Blanche Pozniak, and brothers Albert and Gabriel Petrone.
Services for Mr. Petrone will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Friday September 4, 2009 at 3:00 PM, with Mr. Robert Socash officiating. Interment will be in the Bloomington Cemetery, Curwensville RD.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday September 4 from 1:00 PM until time of services.
