Richard D. Seaburn
Curwensville: Richard D. Seaburn 74, of Curwensville passed away Friday October 21, 2016 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital, Cleveland, OH, after a lengthy illness.
Born February 7, 1942 in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of Lewis Seaburn and Bertha (Reitmyer) Seaburn Vesolosky. Mr. Seaburn had worked for the New York Central Railroad for 5 years then went to work for Kurtz Brothers Stationary Supply in Clearfield and retired from there after 38 years of service.
He spent 11 years (1948 thru 1959) in the Evangelical United Brethren Home in Quincey, PA, had served in the U S Army for 3 years as a medic and served 2 years in the National Guard. He was a huge Pittsburgh Steeler Fan, enjoyed NASCAR, reading and loved summer and working in the yard. He loved his family most of all and being “Pappy” to his granddaughters.
He wed the former Janet Binlein on May 4, 1979 in Clearfield who survives along with a daughter Melissa Crittenden and her husband Craig of Curwensville and two granddaughters Emma and Tessa Crittenden. Also surviving is a brother Lewis Seaburn of Colorado Springs, CO, and three sisters Julia Shaffer and husband Lester of Clearfield, Jane Hoover and husband Richard of Curwensville and Barbara Seaburn of Lynchberg, VA as well as numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather Charles Vesolosky, a son Todd Seaburn, two sisters Geraldine Condon and Anne Briskar, three brothers Thomas, Fred and Donald Seaburn and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Richard Seaburn will be held at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc. of Curwensville on Monday October 31, 2016 at 11 AM with Reverend George Solley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the Funeral Home by members of the Clearfield Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Curwensville on Sunday October 30, 2016 from 3-5 PM and on Monday from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society 26 S. 2nd Street Clearfield, PA 16830 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
