Obituary for Richard Earl (Dick) Peterman
Richard Earl “Dick” Peterman, 87, of Luthersburg, passed away Tuesday December 30, 2014 at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
 
Born September 25, 1927 in Lumber City, PA, he was the son of Earl “Gary” and Martha (Hipps) Peterman.  Mr. Peterman was a heavy equipment operator having been a member of the Operating Engineers Union, and had retired from the former Thomas Brothers Coal Company as the Superintendent of Operations.
 
Mr. Peterman was a Methodist by Faith was a US Army Air Corp Veteran of World War II, and was a member of the VFW Posts in Curwensville Post #842, and Mahaffey Post #8709 as well as the Curwensville American Legion Post #505.
 
Surviving are 4 children: Deborah L. Johnson and husband Les of Mahaffey, Susan A. Peterman, Dixie L. Peterman and J. Richard Peterman and wife Melissa all of Curwensville, 7 grandchildren: Bryan P. Johnson, Amy S. Peterman, Matthew E. Johnson, Jaime L. Doyle, Michael S. Peterman, Morgan R. Peterman, and Madison L. Peterman, and 10 great grandchildren: Chance M. Shaw, MaKenze L. Peterman, Matthew E. Johnson Jr., Gabrielle S. Hoover, Timothy I. Johnson, Brody M. Peterman, Erika Johnson, Chloe Johnson, Richie Doyle, and Ethan Doyle.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 brothers and sisters: Brig Gen. William G. Hipps, Robert Peterman, Ruth Vazalis, Doris Ammerman, H. Jane Polkinghorn, and E. Thomas Peterman.  He was the last member of his generation.
 
At the request of Mr. Peterman, there will be no public visitation and private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
 
The family suggests contributions be made to the Curwensville-Pike Township Historical Society c/o Mr. J. Richard Peterman 186 Hudson Road Curwensville, PA 16833 for the construction of a new World War II Monument in CurwensvilleHH
