Born November 7, 1938 in Clearfield he was the son of Lester and Amy Pearl (Mitchell) Shively. He served his country in the Unites States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed for 36 years with IBEW Local 222 as a Linemen. He was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church in Clearfield, and also was a member of the Clearfield American Legion Post 6, B.P.O.E. #540, and Sparkling Springs Hunting and Fishing Camp.
On July 16, 1966 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church he wed Joan Salter who survives along with 6 children Blair Shively and his wife Melissa of Loxahatchee, FL, Lea Massimino and her husband Richard of Clearfield, Lester Shively of Bellefonte, Keith Shively of Clearfield, Joanie Barr and her husband Alan of Robinson Twp, Pittsburgh, PA, and Chet Shively of Clearfield.
Also surviving are13 grandchildren Jessica, Krista, Emily, Richard III, Kylie, Nina, Alyssa, Cole, Keira, Tyler, Logan, Mika, and Madden. 6 brothers and sisters: John Shively of Bloomsburg, Thomas Shively and his wife Joanne of Big Run, Sue Lloyd and her husband Dave of Arizona. Mary Jo Byers of Clearfield, Clara Verez and her husband Tom of Morrisdale, and Toby Shively and his wife Mary of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Max Shively.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church Clearfield on Thursday November 10, 2016 at 10:00 AM, with Reverend Father John Miller as celebrant.
Friends will be received at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Inc of Clearfield on Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Scripture Vigil Service will be said at 1:45 PM Wednesday and the Rosary will be recited by members of St. Francis Altar and Rosary Society Wednesday at 5:45 PM both at the funeral home
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Education Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St. Clearfield, PA 16830
